Founded in 1979 as the Romeoville Model Railroad Associations, our club has been around for over 30 years.
We are focused on HO-scale model railroading and are making aggressive moves forward. We are constructing a modular in-club layout based on the Free-Mo standard; this will permit easy expansion and changes to the in-club layout and hopefully keep things fresh for members. We are also moving to an operations orientation using DCC for flexible control.
We strive to make the most of the "club" experience by working together to help each other grow as modelers; we take pride in sharing what we know, helping members reach their modeling goals, and keeping an open mind towards input from members with different experiences. No need to be apprehensive about some new technology or idea; odds are someone in the club has some experience they would be willing to share or we can work together to move ahead.
Our club is located in Elwood (just south of Joliet) at the SW corner of IL Route 53 and Millsdale Road (just south of the race tracks and just north of Mr. B's); our layout is setup there and our meetings are held there too.
Work times are typically Tue/Thurs 7-10 and Sunday 12-5 (times are approximate) with monthly meetings and modeling clinics on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 7PM.
